5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes

Every season, there are so many eyeshadow palettes released. Some are good and some are flops! I keep telling myself, I’m not going to buy more and then there are more releases and then I buy get suckered into the marketing and I buy more.

Here is my round-up of palettes for Spring/Summer 2018.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Palette #1: Urban Decay Born to Run

Price: $59.00 CAD

Found at: Sephora & Ulta

5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes for Summer 2018

This one really surprised me. At first, when I looked at the colours, I didn’t think that this was going to be a hit. There is a huge variety of colours, so you can really make any look out of this palette.

This is one of the biggest Urban Decay palettes with 21 shades in it. You can have a large variety of eye looks. I love that there are many matte and shimmer shades in it, so that you can create a full look without having to pull from another palette.

All of the colours in this palette are super pigmented and blend able. I really expected these to be chalky but they outperformed my expectations.

The rest of the Born to Run collection wasn’t as awesome, as I felt that it was unimaginative and colours we have already seen. You can see my full review on the collection here.

I really like the versatility and size of this palette for travel. I usually take my Naked palettes for travel but I will definitely be replacing them with this one for my future travels!

My only complaint is that you have to lean the mirror on something, it doesn’t have a hinge so it just lays flat. I wish that there was a hinge in the packaging for this palette.

Palette #2: Urban Decay Beached

Price: $45.00 CAD

Found at: Ulta

5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes for Summer 2018

I went back and forth in my head above this palette. Did I really need it? It is only 8 shades, how many looks could I do? I eventually caved in.

I love that this has some gold, copper, red and blue tones in it, which makes it very easy to incorporate into any eye look. All of the colours pack a ton of pigment and glide on super smooth.

The shade “double dip” is absolutely one of the most beautiful blues that I have ever seen. I love smudging this one on my lower lash line to amp up my eye look.

My biggest complaint about this palette is that it has 1 matte shade. 1. Matte. Shade. What were you thinking Urban Decay? This makes about 1 or 2 looks achievable from this palette.

If I want to create more looks, I have to pull from other palettes and that is kind of a bummer.

Palette #3: Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam

Price: $55.00 CAD

Found at: Sephora & Ulta

5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes for Summer 2018

This was more of a spring time release but I had to add it because I feel like the shades in it are super awesome for summer! The golds and pinks are my go-to summer looks.

The Soft Glam palette has 14 shades, and a great mix of mattes and shimmers. I love that I can create so many different looks out of this it, depending on my mood.

I love using Tempera all over my lid, Dusty Rose in my crease, Glistening on the lid and Sienna in the outer corner. This is a great daytime look to wear to the office.

My only complaint is that I feel that I am going to hit pan quick on this palette. I haven’t been using it a lot and it seems like there isn’t much product in each shade. I’ll do an update and let you know.

Palette #4: Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina

Price: $55.00 CAD

Found at: Sephora & Ulta

5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes for Summer 2018

This hasn’t been released yet, but I have to have it. It’s being released July 17.

I love purples. I usually pull individual purples from my Inglot shadows when I want them but this palette is just ahhh.

This makes me wonder why more brands haven’t come out with purple lines? I feel like this one is going to be a huge hit. I expect the shadows to perform as well as Modern Renaissance and Soft Glam.

I love looking at Instagram pics of this palette, its so yummy! I can’t wait until everyone gets their PR so we can see some looks on Youtube featuring this little baby.

Palette #5: Jaclyn Hill x Morphe

Price: $50.00 CAD

Found at: Ulta

5 Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes for Summer 2018

If I had to go with 1 palette for this rest of the year. This would be it. I’m not talking about the new Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection that was a flop. I’m talking about the OG, and this is my ride or die palette, so I’m including it.

This is by far the biggest palette of the collection with 35 shades. It’se got massive pans and such a variety of colours. I often through this into my Louis Vuttion Neverfull (review here) when I travel because I can’t live without it.

Any eyeshadow look I could dream up, this baby has something for it. You want Smokey? Gold? Pink shimmer? Blue? Bronze? I can completely understand why this took Jaclyn 2 years to create. It is perfection.

There is not a single shade in this palette that isn’t amazing, every one is super pigmented and blendable!

This is the best value for your money. It screams Summer! Hell it screams Fall! Spring! Winter! If you are on a budget, this is the one to get!

  1. I totally agree about the Beached palette! I’m so glad I picked it up (the shades apply so smooth and beautifully, and are really handy every day colours), but WHY is there only one matte shade?! They seem to do that a lot; the Naked palettes only have about 3. It’s a real shame because it means you can’t use one of their palettes alone for a look…
