It’s July, it’s the a hot, hot summer. I’m in Miami for work and my makeup is needing to work overtime. Long days, lack of sleep and heat are making me need to revamp my makeup routine. Here are the products that I am loving this month!
Urban Decay Quick Fix Hydracharged Complexion Prep Priming Spray
There is one thing that stands out for me in this product. The smell. I love the smell of the coconut water, as a primer, I am not completely satisfied. I don’t really feel that this primary necessarily does anything great for my skin. I find the smell and refreshing qualities of this spray very redeeming, when I am tired, a couple of sprays of this, wakes me right up. Now, I’m kind of addicted to spraying myself in the face with this and moving along with my day 🙂
MAC Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation
So I ran out of my beloved Dior foundation in late June while on a business trip in the Atlanta area. On my way home, I was thinking about how I could stop at Sephora or Ulta but didn’t have enough time to do it. While in the Atlanta airport, I decided to stop by MAC and see what they have, as I had some time to kill in the airport. I decided to purchase this foundation as I loved the way it felt in the store. It is super light-weight, water based, is build-able with lots of coverage. I usually like to use a Beauty Blender for application but I find that this foundation doesn’t have the best application with it :-(. The Beauty Blender soaks up a lot of this foundation and I need about 4 drops of foundation to get my desired coverage. Also, this foundation is so lightweight that using a brush to apply it, tends to make it on the streaky side. I was about to toss this foundation aside when I decided to use just my fingers to apply and this is perfect! Using the warmth of my fingers, it makes the product just blend into my skin. The awesome part, I only need to use about 1 1/2 drops of foundation to get my desired effect! Win!
Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector
I’ve been colour correcting for a while now, and I like the way that colour correcting conceals my dark undereye circles. My issue with colour correcting with very bright peach colours is that if you don’t apply product and lots of setting powder over it, you can easily end up with orange undereyes. One morning, I had to rush to get ready for work, I sat in a conference all morning, when I went to the bathroom mid-morning, I realized that my undereyes were orange. I didn’t bring any makeup with me, so I resorted to trying to rub it off with papertowel and water, which made it worse. I know I looked R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S that day. So I have recently discovered this baby, and I love it. The great part is that its only a hint of peach, so I don’t need to worry about embarassing under-eye accidents anymore!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer
To me, this is the holy grail. Use it anywhere, everywhere. It is a lightweight formula (weightless is NO joke), doesn’t settle into lines and creases (eeeek! thats the last thing you want), its available in a ton of shades to suit any skin tone and it is truly full coverage. It doesn’t go on clumpy or cakey, so it is perfect to use for undereyes as well (of course over colour corrector). I recently was at Sephora and saw the little mini one (so cute!) and thought that this would be really awesome for my travel makeup bag!
Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder
This powder is super finely milled. A little goes a super long way. I like to dip the end of a wet Beauty Blender into it, shake to remove excess and then apply it in a short dabbing motion. Using too much of this powder can give a real cakey affect, but using very little really sets my undereyes for hours!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin
I’ve been using UD primers for years. I just don’t have any reason to try other ones, they work. No creasing, my colour stays all day. A couple dabs on my upper lids, blend with my finger, onto the next step. I like using Sin when I am on the road, sometimes I don’t have much time, so I pop on some Sin and forgo the shadow for that day.
Urban Decay Naked Heat
I was so happy to grab this beauty on the pre-order day from Sephora. I got the tracking number and pretty much stalked the mailman. I watched him from my garage as he loaded the package into my community mailbox. As soon as he drove away, I ran over and collected my package. I opened it up and eeeek! its soooo nice! The colours are just like the other naked palettes, super pigmented and different than the rest of the palettes. I’m still experimenting, I’ll post some looks with this one throughout the month! Stay-tuned!
Delivery of my Naked Heat Palette here:
NARS Orgasm Blush
Cult classic, looks good on everyone. You can use a little or a lot to get the desired effect. It blends perfectly.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium Deep Matte Bronzer
Who doesn’t love makeup that smells like chocolate? Right, its fabulous! And the fact that it blends so well, makes it perfect for a little pop of colour (but please…don’t go overboard on the bronzer and blend, blend, blend). I got this a while ago and stashed it away in my drawer, because I wasn’t feeling it. This month, I decided to try it again and I am glad that I did!
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
Cult classic. I’ve tried A MILLION different liquid eyeliners, I go between this one and the Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper when I want to switch it up. The applicator is super durable, the liquid just glides on. It’s perfect for the cat eye!
Ardell Studio Effects Demi Wispies Strip Lashes
Cheap. Effective. Perfect size (I never have to cut). These ones are not super dramatic and perfect for everyday use. I used to do lash extensions but found that the maintenance sucked and bad lash extensions made me sad. I ended up missing a ton of my lashes after bad lash extensions, mascara just didn’t cut it so I started using strip lashes daily. I love it because I can change up the look whenever I feel like it. Use the DUO glue and it goes on perfect and stays all day. Remember to wait about 30 seconds after applying glue to the lashes before you apply to your eyes.
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
My final makeup step is a few quick mists of this setting spray and I am ready for the day. I recently worked an 18 hour day and still had my makeup on at the end of the day! I love it when everything just comes together!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan
My absolute favourite part about this lip product, is that I apply it and wait a few minutes, take a sip of my coffee and nothing. Zero transfer. Hello? This is fabulous! I couldn’t be happier with these, for a matte lipstick, they do not make your lips feel cakey or gross like some can. There is a ton of different shades for your skin tone, but this one is my current go-to.
Tell me in the comments below which products you are loving this month!
